Let Food Be thy Medicine and Medicine thy food

Hipocrates said it first, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine thy food”

When we start to look at food this way, everything changes. We begin to realize that food can be not only our medicine but also our poison. There are so many things in life that cannot control, but we do have 100% control over what we put into our bodies.

Happy New Year from the Love Life Team!

Every January we like to focus on getting a strong foundation for our health to set the tone for the entire year. Making resolutions is easy, but following through with them is the challenge. We know that having support is the key to the success of our resolutions and Down to Earth is here to help!

This month our outreach calendar is full of workshops that are going to help you on your healthy journey for 2016. We started the year with our popular monthly cooking classes on January 2nd in Honolulu and January 5th in Kailua.

The More I Learn About Noni, the More I Love It!

Aloha Kakou. What a beautiful summer we are having in Hawaii Nei. Even with it being a little warmer than usual this summer, there’s no place I’d rather be.

I am so excited to share my newest obsession of this summer. Now, if you live in Hawaii you’re probably well aware of this amazing fruit. But in the 12 years that I have lived in Hawaii, I have never really delved into it, until now. It’s absolutely a miracle food to me and I can’t get enough. Ok, have I piqued your interest? Well this incredible fruit is… noni!

Go Organic, Don’t Panic!

Eating organic is essential to a healthy future for ourselves and our environment. Last month our Love Life! team gave a cooking demo to Hawaii Famers Union, Patricia Bragg, and a group of young people on a cultural exchange with Native American Indians and Hawaiians. It was a pretty epic evening in the back roads of Waimanalo on Green Rows Farm. This demo was so special because we had young people -- our future -- visiting and connecting with organic farmers from across the Islands.

A Fresh Start for 2015

Down to Earth wishes you a very Happy, Healthy 2015! The beginning of a new year is always a wonderful opportunity to start fresh and we’re here to help you. Our January Events Calendar is packed with so many different inspiring events, there’s bound to be one that’ll help with your goals this year.  In addition to our free monthly cooking classes, here's a few exciting events you might like to consider in January:

Talk Story with the Love Life! Team

Isn’t it great to call Hawaii home? While the rest of the country is bundling up for frightful weather, this Christmas we continue to be blessed with warm sunshine in paradise. As we again approach another holiday season with excitement, we are pleased to invite you to a variety of wonderful lectures and workshops that we have planned for this December.

Talk Story with the Love Life! Team

Can you believe it is officially Fall? It really is remarkable how fast this year seems to be going… we are rapidly approaching the holiday season with Thanksgiving and Christmas on the horizon! Usually this time of year brings a little indulgence to our lives with parties and sweet treats. But it does not mean that we have to compromise or sabotage all the great efforts we have made all year towards better health.

September is Eat Local Month!

This month the Love Life! Team will be focusing on eating local and will be sharing recipes in our free cooking classes that focus on local ingredients. Our menu for classes at our Oahu locations will be a savory raw pie featuring local tomatoes and Ko Farm kale, tumeric-garlic fried rice, and raw cacao macaroons with local coconut. If you will be joining us on Maui you will be able to learn how to make a raw zucchini pasta with marinara sauce made with local tomatoes, raw local Hamakua mushroom soup, and local mint cacao cookies, also raw.
