Down to Earth to Relocate its Kailua Store Into Former Macy's Building

Honolulu, HI (Feb. 6, 2017) -- Down to Earth Organic & Natural will relocate and expand its 6,000 square foot Kailua store into a 15,000 square foot space in the former Macy’s Building that is being re-developed by Alexander & Baldwin Inc. The new Down to Earth Kailua store is planned to open in late 2018/early 2019.

Down to Earth to Build New Pearlridge Store

Honolulu, HI (Jan. 25, 2017) -- Down to Earth Organic & Natural has signed a long-term lease with Washington Prime Group, of Columbus, Ohio, for a new, stand-alone 10,000 square foot store that will be built at the Pearlridge Shopping Center on Oahu.  Pearlridge Center is the largest enclosed shopping center in Hawaii.  The new Down to Earth store is planned to open in the second half of 2018.

Down to Earth has again won the Star-Advertiser’s People’s Choice Award for 2016 Best Health Food Store. Ten years in a row!

The announcement was made in the Star-Advertiser on Sunday, June 19th. The award was selected by readers, who had to fill out a hard-copy form and mail it in.  So the result is a true reflection of our standing in the community.

Dr. Bill Harris Loved Life!

This month we mourn the Aug. 26th sudden and unexpected passing of Dr. William “Bill” Harris, 84, a stalwart supporter of the vegetarian movement in Hawaii—having been one of the original founders of the Vegetarian Society of Hawaii (VSH) in 1990, and serving on its board until his passing away.  Dr. Harris became a vegetarian in 1950 and a vegan in 1964.

Whether you’re a coffee lover or kombucha enthusiast, we’re excited to tell about our Kahului store’s “Espresso & Kombucha Celebration” Tuesday, March 17th through Friday, March 20th. The event promotes our Kahului store’s newly installed Organic Espresso Bar and self-serve Kombucha on Tap. We’ll be passing out free samples of organic espresso drinks and kombucha, as well as giving away lots of prizes throughout the four-day event.

KHON2 Features Monthly Down to Earth Cooking Segment

Down to Earth on KHON2's Living808 "Healthy & Delicious"

A Down to Earth cooking segment will be featured every 3rd Monday on KHON2-TV's new cable channel Living808. The new segment, "Healthy and Delicious with Down to Earth" will be hosted by Community Outreach Team Leader, Trisha "Mama T" Gonsalves. She will be demonstrating how easy and tasty it is to cook and eat healthy. Down to Earth is excited to be a part of Living808, Hawaii's first live daily lifestyle show featuring hosts Trini Kaopuiki and Taizo Braden.

New $5 Fee for Cooking Classes at Honolulu and Kapolei

Our Cooking Classes in Honolulu and Kapolei will be charging a $5 fee starting April 1st. The new fee will enable us to demonstrate more recipes (at least 4 per class), do more giveaways, and the best part, serve larger samples of everything. When you attend these classes, you’ll definitely want to come hungry! No reservations required but seats are limited and are at a first come, first served basis. We will accept cash or check payments at the door. Children under 12 are free.  Cooking Classes in Kailua and Kahului will continue to be free with demonstrations of 2-3 recipes.
