30% OFF Kailua Renovation Celebration Sale

Honolulu, HI (Jan 13, 2011) - Down to Earth ALL VEGETARIAN Organic & Natural will celebrate the renovation of its Kailua store with a 30% off sale on Wednesday, January 19th. Customers will receive 30% off on more than 100 of its best-selling items. The sale will be held only at the company's Kailua location, 201 Hamakua Drive.

The sale marks completion of the renovation of its Kailua store, which first opened in 2000. The company expanded its vegetarian deli and added a new line of its signature all-natural smoothies (no water or ice, just pure fruit and juice), added space for new products especially chill and frozen items, widened the aisles, and refreshed the décor.

“The success of our Kailua store is based on our unshakable commitment to provide customers with great value and our mission to help improve the health of our island communities,” said Mark Fergusson, Down to Earth's Chief Vegetarian Officer (CEO/CFO). "We’ve earned the loyalty of our customers due to our uncompromising dedication to this mission and our commitment to promote a vegetarian lifestyle, respect for the environment and sustainable organic farming while providing high-quality organic and natural products at affordable down to earth prices."

Fergusson says the Renovation Celebration will be a party hosted by the company's "Love Life! Team"—which gets its name from the company's slogan, "Love Life! Eat Healthy. Be Happy!"

It starts with the sale beginning at 8:00 am and continues until 10:00pm. There will be smoothie demos and sampling at 10:00am and 2:00pm by Saradha Johnson, the company's vegetarian chef. Another cooking class will be held at noon by Love Life! Team leader Trisha "Mama T" Gonsalves, who is also a well-known local vegetarian chef and singer. Mama T's class will help people get ready for the Super Bowl by showing how to make "Awesome Mexican Nachos" featuring a vegetarian meat substitute. The main attraction of the day will be live entertainment featuring acoustic island folk music by famed local performers Paula Fuga, Mike Love, and Sam Gonsalves.

There also will be trivia contests, food sampling and demos all day, including a special drawing for up to $300 in prizes.

Down to Earth is Hawaii’s only all-vegetarian food store chain and one of only a few in the Nation. It was started in 1977, over 30 years ago, when a group of friends in Wailuku, Maui, turned their vision into a business dedicated to improving the health of island communities. Since then, Down to Earth has become the largest, locally operated natural food store chain in Hawaii. It has five locations: Honolulu, Kailua, and Pearlridge on Oahu; Kahului on Maui, and Hilo on the Big Island. It will add a sixth store at the Kapolei Commons Shopping Center this July.
