The Fair Trade system helps producers and suppliers earn a living wage and take steps to protect the environment. It also serves to empower individuals and communities, support women’s and children’s rights, promote dignity and respect, and connect developing nations with developed nations and markets.

Don't forget to send us your photo by May 15th!

We'll post it on our Facebook page and enter you in the contest!

Each Fair Trade product you choose supports:

  • Long-term direct trading relationships
  • Prompt payment of fair prices and wages
  • No child, forced or otherwise exploited labor
  • Workplace non-discrimination, gender equity and freedom of association
  • Investment in community development projects
  • Environmental sustainability
  • Traceability and transparency
  • Safe working conditions and reasonable work hours

World Fair Trade Day (WFTD) is the largest Fair Trade event of the year in North America, and events take place May 4-19 in 2013. Around 100,000 people attend hundreds of celebrations to promote Fair Trade and campaign for trade justice together with farmers & artisans. The WFTD will be celebrated worldwide on May 11.

The Fair World Project was launched by the Organic Consumers Association (OCA) in 2010 to promote fair trade in commerce, especially in organic production systems, and to protect the term “fair trade” from misuse, as consumers expand the market for fairly traded products.

Learn which of your favorite products are fair trade and choose them with pride on World Fair Trade Day and throughout the year. http://fairworldproject.org/
