“A mother is she who can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can take.”
—Cardinal Mermillod
Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 8th!
Every mother deserve a huge and heartfelt thank you for their selfless love, hard work and guidance, and all the under-appreciated and unseen sacrifices that come along with motherhood. Even if it is a small gesture, take the time to let your mother know that you appreciate her.
Encourage young kids to make a card, draw a picture, or pick some flowers for mom. Older kids (and spouses) can give mom a break by taking care of the daily household tasks or creating a special outing for her. And moms, don’t be afraid to treat yourself to an outing or a special meal!
One Mother’s Day gift that never goes out of style is the classic “breakfast in bed.” But why limit your culinary gifts to breakfast? Following are some tasty and wholesome recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert (not that they all have to be eaten in bed of course, but if that sounds appealing, hey, it’s her day!). Do good for Mother Earth at the same time by using local, organic ingredients whenever possible.

A web search will turn up hundreds of eloquent and tear-jerking quotes about the beauty and sacrifice of motherhood, but as a practical, health-conscious and earth-loving mother myself, the following one particularly appealed to me:
Everybody wants to save the Earth;
Nobody wants to help Mom do the dishes.
—P.J. O’Rourke
This Mother’s Day, how about doing both?
